As we know that world is fighting against Corona (Covid-19) and it is killing people around the world. Covid 19 started from China and it spreads all over the world.  It is transferable disease which can be transferred from respiration system similar to flu Infected people can transfer disease to healthy one through saliva, coughing, sneezing, hand shacking, kissing etc.

Virus infected in Nepal is increasing day by day and we are in danger zone. We know lockdown is not the permanent solution but we are taking virus very casually which is infecting and killing Nepali people. Government is requesting all of us to use mask, maintain social distancing and avoid outing if we really don’t need it, however people loves to visit places without mask and task.

We can observed the rising cases of the Corona Virus among bankers (bank staffs) across the country and banking services are among the most essential services and is directly linked with the public so there is a co-relation between infected bankers and public as customer will visit bank and talk with staff, take cash, take documents, use ball pen and so many other tasks will increase the chance to spread virus to public.

Till date dozens of Nepali Bank across the county have been infected with the Corona Virus. Employee of Everest Bank Ltd, Rastriya Banijya Bank Ltd, Nabil Bank Ltd, Agriculture Development Bank Ltd, Mega Bank Ltd, Laxmi Bank Ltd, Prime Commercial Bank Ltd, Global Bank Ltd, Tinau Development Bank Ltd, Garima Development Bank Ltd have been tested with virus.   The infected number is in increasing trend and banking sector is highly affected by this virus. Recently staff of Nepal Rastra Bank also tested corona positive.

Reason for high risk for Banker

1. Regular outing
2. Direct contact with customer
3. Use of money( as virus survives in money for up to days)
4. Use of other paper related documents
5. Use of restaurants , tea shop by staff
6.  Use of public places( Land Revenue Office- Malpot, Department of Transportation) by staff

Precaution for Banker

1. Usemask and gloves
2.  Provide sanitizer for customer
3. Maintain social distance with customer
4. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
5. Use sanitizer frequently
6. Avoid visiting branch if you are sick( Flue, Fever)

Precaution for customer

1. Use mask
2. Use digital banking rather than cash banking
3. Avoid gathering
4. Use your own pen if you are going to visit bank
5. Avoid sitting in bank’s chair
6. Maintain social distance in branch premises
7. visit bank if you really need

customer visiting bank without reason is quite shocking as they came to branch for FD receipt printing, D-mat Account opening, Account Opening, for share application which will make them chance to infect or transfer virus from people( banker, customer or any other medium). Corona havoc in banking arena is increasing day by day and it is infecting banker and also killing banker so bank as well as customer must support government and avoid social gathering use digital banking rather than cash banking. Stay safe and make our society healthy.
