Corona in Banking Sector

Corona in Banking Sector

As we know that world is fighting against Corona (Covid-19) and it is killing people around the world. Covid 19 started from China and it spreads all over the world. It is transferable disease which can be transferred from respiration system similar to flu Infected people can transfer disease to healthy one through saliva, coughing, sneezing, hand shacking, kissing etc.
Nepal is also in danger of Covid 19 so Nepalese government has announced lock down in the county. Public movement outside the home are prohibited except in emergency cases and its impact has already been started in sectors like tourism sector, trade, production, supply, health, education, share and financial sectors. Banks and financial institutions remained open despite the lockdown in the country. Though Nepal is in danger from Covid 19 Nepalese are those who are not aware of it as we can see number of customer visiting bank and financial institutions during lock down. Customers visiting bank and financial institution for E- Banking activation, SMS Banking activation, account open, D-mat activation are not justifiable as those activities are not necessary like cash deposit and cash withdrawal. However, depositing of cash whose account already have enough balance is not justifiable too. Actually operating bank during such situation without proper precaution is very dangerous as one can spread Covid 19 to other and there will last 4-5 days in money so there is a high chance to spread virus through banking channel.
Nepal Rastra Bank has regulated bank and financial institution to open bank during lock down by 1/3 staff and as per Nepal Rastra Bank , customer require money to buy essentials but such decision is questionable without proper precaution as bankers shall in danger in such situation.
